Limited Capacity seats available

Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM) are disproportionately impacted by HIV and many other STBBIs. A key component of prevention is increased and timely access to STBBI testing to diagnose and treat infections to prevent onward transmission. However, many gbMSM have reported that testing services have inaccessible hours or do not meet their unique needs. To help address these barriers, community-based clinics have emerged to help increase access to STBBI testing. The Centre for Sexuality and Alberta Health Services’ Safeworks have partnered to operate a successful community-based testing clinic for this population. This session will explore the development and implementation of the clinics, including the successes and challenges encountered throughout the process. Participants will learn about the benefits of community-based testing for gbMSM, and how to effectively connect their practice with community-based initiatives related to STBBI prevention.

Presented by Logan Chinski, Associate Manger Harm Reduction/Safeworks Alberta Health Services and Nolan Hill, Gay Men’s Health Specialist, Centre for Sexuality
